If you are a beginner to playing golf then you may find it hard to understand the concept of golf swing plane as it can be a tricky concept to grasp. Basically it describes the route that your club head takes as it swings in relation to your body (imagine a ball on the end of a string being circled in the air).
Ideally it should be a straight plane (assuming that you have the perfect stance) but if you do not swing correctly then it can have a plane to the left or right hand side and this will cause the ball to fly in a different direction to that which you intended.
It can take a lot of effort to correct the swing plane so that it is perfect and therefore your golf swing improves. However, it is well worth working on this in order to improve your game as it can make a considerable difference.
You will find that by improving your physical fitness you will improve your swing plane quite considerably, especially if you do not spend much time strengthening your golf muscles. This is because problems can be caused by not pulling up through your legs when hitting, or your body sliding downwards.
By improving your muscular strength and especially those muscles that you use when you hit the the ball, you should more easily be able to stop your body going into these incorrect positions and therefore you should be able to improve you golf swing plane.
